My favorite museums 😃😃😃

 Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum (Koggala).

If there is anyone who has not read 'Ape Gama' written by the great collector of Hela, it is very rare. The house where he was born, mentioned in the book 'Ape Gama' written about the rural environment of Koggala where he grew up, was converted into a folk museum in 1981 by the Martin Wickramasinghe Trust. Like most old houses in the Southern Province, the two-century-old house, built according to Dutch architecture, was taken over by the Royal Air Force during World War II and an Air Force officer used it as her official residence because of the beauty of the house.

The mound to the right of the museum houses the ashes of Martin Wickramasinghe and his beloved wife, and the entire interior of the house is dedicated to souvenirs, gifts and photographs marking various milestones in Martin Wickramasinghe's life. In addition, there are agricultural implements typical of the Southern Province, fishing and pottery equipment, folk dances (especially kolam masks and puppets) and various items used for religious ceremonies. In addition, the section behind the museum is reserved for a collection of antique vehicles. The Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm.🤗🤗🤗

Air Force Museum (Ratmalana)

The Air Force Museum in Ratmalana is about a kilometer and a half away from the Galle Road Airport. Maintained by the Sri Lanka Air Force, it was opened to the public at the suggestion of Air Chief Marshal Harry Goonetileke, who served as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force from 1976-1981.

The Air Force Museum displays a number of aircraft and other equipment owned by the Sri Lanka Air Force and the Royal Air Force (formerly known as the Sri Lanka Air Force before 1972). Among them was Air Vice Marshal E. who served as the first Sri Lankan Commander of the Air Force. R.  Mr. Amarasekera's sword and medals are special. Also, the wreckage of Japanese aircraft parts that crashed into Sri Lanka during World War II and L.A.  T.  T.  e. Parts of aircraft that crashed in Colombo during suicide bombings are also on display at the Air Force Museum. Other highlights include the Austin Fire truck and the Sholand armored vehicle used by the Air Force. 

 The Air Force Museum is open to the public every day from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, except on Mondays and public holidays. Local elders paid Rs. 100 / - and local children Rs. You have to buy a ticket for Rs. 25 / -. So these are my two favorite museums to visit. You too can visit at any time.🤗🤗🤗
