Horton Plains🤧🤧🤧

                                             Horton Plains is one of the most important places I 've been to on a trip, and today's my post about it.  Discovered by Thomas Fur in the early 19th century, it was named Horton Plains in honor of Sir Robert Wilbert Horton (1831 - 1837), then Governor of Ceylon.

Horton Plains is one of the coldest🤧🤧🤧 and windiest places in Sri Lanka.  Located about 2100 meters above sea level.  It is spread over 3.169 hectares.  There are a large number of endemic plant and animal species in Sri Lanka.  It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 30, 2010.

This is one of the most important water catchment areas in Sri Lanka.  It is also rich in biodiversity and is a valuable place for those engaged in education and research.

Horton Plains belong to the mountainous wet forests.  Its average annual rainfall is more than 5000 mm.
