My favorite traditional dance 😊😊😊

                             My favorite traditional dance is low country dance,😋The low country dance tradition is one of the most beautiful and diverse dance traditions spread across the southern and southwestern coastal areas such as Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Colombo, Kalutara, which are considered as low country areas of Sri Lanka. Special mention should be made of the Shantikarma and Kolam folk dramas performed using masks. Shantikarma in the low country dance tradition can be explained under three main sections.

                         1. Rituals of peace for God

                         2. Rituals for demons  

                         3. Rituals for the planets

                                                           Devol Madhu Shantikarma is one of the main rituals performed in the low country tradition as well as for the sake of God. In addition, there are other rituals performed for the gods such as Gammadu, Poona Madhu, Malmadu, etc.  There the deities such as Devol, Pattini, Kataragama, Wahala, Dedimunda etc. are given priority and they are given offerings. Sanniyakuma, Ratayakuma / Riddi Yaga, Magic Yaga, Mahason Samayama, Kalu Kumara Samayama, Gara Yakuma etc. are the rituals performed for the devils. Sacrifice for the new planets Ravi, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Guru, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu is the peace ritual performed for the planets. These sacrificial rites are found in all three.

                                  The drum used in the low country dance tradition is the low country drum. Due to its elongated shape it is known as a long drum, because of its loud sound it is called as a loud drum, because it is used for yak thovils, it is called as a yak drum, because it is a traditional drum unique to the country of Ruhuna, as a Ruhuna drum, and as a temple drum because it is the center of the Devol Madhu ritual, etc.  The drum is in use under several names. The low country drum is specially made of boku leather.

                                         The main costume in the low country dance tradition is the beaded costume. It is a very beautiful work and colorful arrangement. In addition, a number of other costumes are in use among low country dancers.
